Default Diagnosis?

Hi Im new here and was hoping you guys could shed some light on something thats been bothering me. I bought my truck a month or two back and I absolutely love it, the other owner kept the engine very clean and changed the oil, the starter, brakes, and filters before he sold it to me. Ive been noticing that when I turn it on on cold start up it will occasionally shake right as I crank it but runs smooth after that, then everytime I turn it off, after what feels like the truck turning off I can feel a shake. I asked the P/O and he said he hasnt changed the plugs in over a year and I looked and saw that it had the original motorcraft wires. Would I just need to change the plugs and wires? It has 165XXX btw

Hey Neff, welcome to the forum. I experienced a slight shake/shudder in my 4.2L for a while. After replacing the fuel filter and running some fuel injector cleaner through the gas tank, the shake pretty much disappeared. If you're positive the previous owner replaced all the filters (fuel, oil, air, etc.), then I would suspect the plugs and wires to be a possible cause, especially considering they're over a year old.

Who knows though, you may want to run some injector cleaner through it just to be on the safe side. If you do, they do recommend you change your oil 150 - 300 miles after though. Good Luck!

And let me know how the Flowmaster works out. I bought a Super 44 today off eBay as well. Here's the link. I'm still curious as to how much extra pipe I'm going to need to fill in the space after dropping the massive factory muffler haha.

Hi thanks for the reply Moye, yea Im stoked to get mine in. We should post up videos or let eachother know how it goes Idk whether to take mine to a muffler shop or do it myself, I was thinking on just using clamps but I know for a fact that welding would be the best option. And thanks! Ill buy some sea foam or injector cleaner and get to work on that!

Run some Zmax in both the crank case and fuel tank. It should run buttery smooth
