So i've had my truck for a little over a year now, and when i got it, the previous had put a hella big dent in the rear driver side quarter panel.

LMC has some good prices on patch panels if your good with a mig welder. The other option is to beat the damage out with a body hammer and a dolly then covering with some body filler. Post a picture though, we should all post pictures of truck carnage. Its really cool when you run your rig down the side of a tree while off roading, like my 89 bronco that received headlight to taillight damage.
I didnt do it, i did however take a hammer and a 2x4 and pound out alot of the damage, i will certainly get pics tomorrow. I was thinking of pounding out as mucj as i can then bondo'ing it up. Yeah im only 16 so the welder option really out of question for me right now,
I watched a program where they drilled out the dimple welds and replaced a panel by gluing it on, instead of welding it. It appeared just as strong. I would highly look into that. Its the same glue a lot of body shops use. That way, you only need to replace the one panel on the truck box. Your other option is to find a used box in the same color. I would compare prices.

Gotta ask yourself... How much do you want to spend?
If it was me... I would clean up the metal, pop out as much dent as possible, then, prime, paint... Mainly because it is black and easy to paint. It will hide it a lot better, but it will still be there... You could bondo it if you have the time and energy but it is a pain.

Hey, not too bad at all its in a good spot for blending. This is by no means in need of a welding/ patch panel. You can fix it yourself and it wont be noticed unless your looking for it. You can score some body filler application basics off the net. Its fairly easy my only piece of advice is to not go crazy and apply too much filler. I prefer to use 3-4 thin layers and 180grit paper in between layers. then apply a rattle can sealer primer "filler primer" I usually 600 grit wet sand the primer. I would then get a pre-paint solvent to remove any skin oil or debris.(this prevents fish eyes) next get a dupli-color gloss black(as close as you can match) and apply several light coats of paint. Wait a day or so and wax the whole truck. You may be pleased with the result. Once again, you can get alot of helpful info on the net on body filler application and paint prep this will help tremendously.
