Default Deleted cats on 01 5.4 need help finding a good muffler

Hey guys I'm new here and need some help with my exhaust. Yesterday I had to have my cats removed because they was plugged up. All I had laying around was an old glasspack and it sounds like **** and is way to loud. I just wanted to get some opinions on what muffler to get so it will give it a better tone and quiet it down and also get some of the low end torque back. It's just a single exhaust by the way. Thanks for any help

I'm not sure I buy into their muffler design creating power or not, but look into an aero exhaust 2525 or 2525xl if you want to tone it down a bit. Great deep sound. If it's too raspy for you look into one of their resonators. I plan to run two of the 2525 in a dual setup.

I've actually been thinking about trying the 2525xl. And if it's not enough maybe getting a couple MagnaFlow high flow cats. Thanks for your advice

I agree with the Aeroturbune muffler. On my 03 5.4L Supercrew ran deleted front cats, stock rear cats. Y'ed the factory 2.5" piping from each side into a single 3.5" into a 3535XL AeroTurbune diesel muffler out the side in front the rear tire with a 4" double walked stainless MBRP tip.

I cant speak for not having cats but I replaced the flowmasters with an 18" magnaflow and it really knocked down the volume but kept a nice tone.

Any drawbacks to using a muffler designed for diesels? That's awesome!

No, it's a straight through design. It has a real deep tone. A lot of imports run them to try to get their sound deeper. They're especially popular on Toyota Tacoma's. I will be running them for sure.
