Default damper door

I have a 2003 supercrew with climate control. Just started having a problem. When I start the truck I hear the blower running but no air. after a few minutes it sounds like a door opens and works great til I shut down again. Any one have experience with this and where do I start? Thanks

MBB you are right it starts on defrost then switches to panel. It seems if I coast it shifts faster which sounds like a vacuum leak but the truck runs strong and idles smooth. What is happening I am not sure, Any help appreciated.

My guess is your defrost mode door vacuum motor has an issue. It is Motorcraft P/N YH1453.

Thanks, I just drove 3 hrs cruising at 65 and it shifted to defrost a few times and after a minute or two it would shift back to panel. Now I have to find the defrost vacuum motor.

Thread started and I called it a Damper problem because I had no idea what the problem is. I just pulled the battery and box and checked for vacuum leak using carb cleaner and unlit propane torch and found nothing. Removed glove box and saw nothing except a solid plastic wall. Not sure where to look next. Maybe a shop or dealer. I am 77 and have worked on cars all my life but this one I have been unable to find the problem

I know what you're getting at. Different door though. The defrost uses vacuum. I think floor does too.

Is it different ? Oh okay, my mistake. So many blend door threads, thought this was one in the same.
