Default Help Please! Cutting off the cats

I know that cutting off the cats off is illegal and all that so I don't need a lesson on what is legal or not I just want to know if I will throw a MIL light if I cut off the back 2 cats on a 5.4L FX4. If anyone has actually done this then please respond. Thanks for the help

The cats got stolen off our dually a while back. No lights came up for it, but it left a giant hole in the system and the fumes went straight to the cab

if the cats are after the cat monitors you'll get no light.. if they are before the monitors you get a light after a bit of driving

Sorry for being obtuse but, why would you want to do that?

1. Not even a noticeable increase in HP?
2. Want louder truck and would rather spend money on having pipes fit instead of a muffler?
3. Don't care about the air we breathe?

You don't want some lesson on the legality, but how about common sense?
All this will do is help make your truck obnoxious to everyone but yourself(Maybe even yourself....lol).
If you don't think you can make any horsepower legally, then I suggest you buy yourself a race car. I owned a 03 Cobra that made 619 rwhp....through the cats BTW.

BTW i already have a muffler there are 4 cats on the truck. im sure you put on high flow cats on your cobra which even though they claim they work rarely pass smog inspections. so apparently i do not care about the air we breath. i disagree that my truck would be obnoxious to other people and why does it matter anyway what the hell my truck sounds like. it was a question on whether or not i would get a cel light not a question about your opinion.

No, I didn't put high flow cats. I owned the prototype Kenne Bell car and ALL tests were done through the stock cats and mufflers. My simple point is that cats are quite effective and don't cost enough HP to make it worth ruining the air we breathe. While I can appreciate the lumpy sound of a Hemi Cuda, I don't know of anyone who likes the fumes. I'm suggesting your best best is to simply change mufflers.

If you want to do something illegal and have someone says it's ok, try the guy you will have to pay to get your truck smogged....

I don't see the point in risking a ticket or impound for 5hp or to change the sound.

If you have the ***** to tell me on the net that you don't care about the air we breathe, go to a grade school and tell a few 8 year olds that you are going to poison the air so your truck can be....in your opinion....cool

I have a 2000 F-150 with the 5.4 and I cut off all 4 cats and ran true duals out the back. It will set off your service engine soon light unless you run a wire to make the computer think that they are still there. It also will make the truck louder but sounds awesome!
