crash and burn
well guys i am brand new to the forum so a little introduction about myself, born in Montana now reside in Jackson hole , Wyoming while working for the forest service anyways onto the issue I am faced with, about a year and a half ago i had the head gasket go in my 99 4.6, no big deal got it fixed well about a month ago it went again and it is sitting in my garage now trying to decide what to do about it, I think I want to go ahead and sell it and just cut my losses instead of dealing with the further issues I could possibly have, what do you think I could get out of the truck with the blown head gasket? I have brand new tires on it and I mean like 1000 miles new, along with new wheels. Total about 1200 dollars invested so shoot me a figure what do you think I could get out of it?
I'm thinking a few other questions about the truck needed like what's the mileage, is it 4 or 2 wd, is it an XL or top of the line package, auto or stick, I'm sure there are a few more LOLOL. Just info people here would need to try and help ya with a ball park number.
Around here, $300-500 And they haul it away for scrap.
Another $800 or so if sell wheels separately, and you should.
A lmost 20yr old non working vehicle without functioning engine has no wholesale value but scrap
Except to right individual.
Friend of mine had your exact probem on 99 last yr. He traded it in on new truck
And got $700 for it. Im sure dealer saw they could fix it and make $. I thought he came out good. Its not always easy to get rid of nonworking vehicle. Costs someone $100 just to tow it away , and they are taking chance. If you want top $, fix it then sell it.

scrap value is about $300
I would go $500 if in decent shape otherwise
never know what you're getting till you get into it.
if it's in good shape you're better off to fix it.
seems odd to me you'd loose 2 head gaskets on the same engine, unless it wasn't replaced properly the first time.

I'm guessing it's been over heated and the head is warped. Never replace a head gasket without having the head checked for warpage and cracks. I would say $500-$700 would be a decent price depending on condition and factoring in the cost of a new/ reman or junkyard engine.
Not totally sure, but I do think the 99's had the problem as well...98's for sure, but it took awhile for the problem to show itself.
Not a recall, but a letter was sent out to some 99 owners for a time. Ford suggested the plugs were over-torqued and asked that the owners bring them in. They didn't say how much they were torqued, - wish they did lol.
