Default Courtesy lights

I've a poverty spec F150.....a 2001....that is the basic model.....power steering and cruise control and that's it.

It doesn't seem to even have courtesy lights......by this I mean interior lights that come on when you open the door....handy for actually seeing inside when it's either early or late and dark

It has a dome light that works but it's just an on / off switch for that.

I've never owned even the most basic of car that didn't have courtesy lights.......am I missing something or were Ford so stingy they saved a dollar by not fitting one?

Thanks

Sounds like you have an XL or Work Series level trim. Be glad you didn’t get an ‘03 with the red lenses that have nothing behind them, where I reckon Ford started taking those out. They sure haven’t been back in the doors since.

You feel bad? I’ve got an ‘03 XL Sport SuperCab. It’s got everything an XLT has short of power windows and locks and those courtesy lights. Would those options been that hard to check on the order sheet by the previous (first) owner?

Where abouts would the actual light be then?

It's usual for it to be the dome light and have a three way switch or at least be next to it......but that's just a simple on off and it works.

I can't see another light anywhere else.

Thanks

The dome and courtesy light is the same. take it down and check the connections. Reed this thread.

I guess the space in the middle is for the courtesy light bulb.

Can anyone let me know what type of bulb it is so I can order one?

Thanks

That's usually information in the owner's manual. Did you look there?

Three bulbs fit in that fixture. One courtesy and two map lights. I googled it for you: https://lmgtfy.app/?q=2001+f150+bulb+chart

Hey.....

Thanks for the smart **** comments.......I'd never have thought to check on Google.

Oh wait.....I did....and didn't get a solid answer that would save me buying bulbs that won't fit.

I don't live anywhere near a ford dealership or specialist....and even if I did the likelihood of the parts department being able to help on a 20 year old imported car is slim to none.

So feel free to just scroll by......Google is not your friend.....
