Default Cosmetic Project

so, a few months ago i bought a headache rack from a yard sale for $5 but the old adage of "you get what you pay for" kind of kicked in....

after a week of working on it i got this

i'm pretty happy with how it turned out and hope it makes the truck pop, with that project being done i decided it needs more to match the truck. i started with the back end

going to paint the chrome bumper the same gloss black as my headache rack

next weekend i'm doing the same to my front bumper, the week after that i plan on doing the same to my toolbox and then when i put the toolbox on i'm going to put the headache rack on and hopefully i'll find a sliding rear window to put on before i get to the toolbox. right now i'm also looking for some wheels to put on that will match the scheme

how are you prepping the bumper to paint it? I was considering painting mine black but I didn't think the paint would stick good. will the paint actually last or is it gna flake off after awhile?

if you sand it up good with like 3000 gritt paper and then spray self etching primer and a good base i think it will grab on just fine sand between primer coats too

i just scuffed my bumper up enough to give the primer something to hold onto then did several coats of primer

there's a few problems with it but for the most part i like how it came out

I'm curious as to how long the paint will hold up. You'll have to let us know in a couple of months how they look. Id like to do it but I don't want it to flake off or something in a couple months

i got rearended about a month ago and the back bumper is barely scuffed, the paint really held up better then i would have expected (was still enough incentive for me to install the receiver hitch).

the truck also now has tinted windows, window vents, an expedition grille, full body gloss black mirrors, and bed rails. as soon as i get a grille guard, nerf bars, and a 2in lift in the front, and black rims this truck will basically be done for all the cosmetics.

working on interior changes now, installed Infinity Reference speakers/tweeters in the doors and kenwood 10"s behind the seat
