Default coolant leak help needed asap

Hi,
I am working on a friends truck (97 f150 4.6l 4x4) and in need of some help.
the truck is leaking coolant from the back passenger side of the motor. I couldn't for the life of me find where it was leaking from, but the coolant was an orangish color and smelled like it had fuel in it.
It also threw a misfire on #4. So with some searching I figured that it is most likely the intake gasket. So I pulled the manifold off, which is a total pain, and pulled out the gasket, and it didn't look like it would have been leaking from the back area??? with one exception, the gasket didn't look squished all the way around on the last little circle and was dirty like it wasn't sealed good, but it wasn't damp at all.

I am hoping to finish this tomorrow for him.

Thanks in advance.

Nic

Chances are - If your getting a bad misfire you have a verry bad blown head gasket.....I had a 1996 ford f150 5.0.... It started leaking water right down the side left side of the block....It would only leak when warm and right after turning the engine off. It would lose maybe 2 or 3 handfuls of water with in a few min.

I had the head check and it was fine )No cracks or warps just a bad gasket( The shop that rebuilt the head said 9 time out of 10 when they do this it means there warped...

Look at the facts (coolant was an orangish color and smelled like it had fuel in it) (A misfire)

If it was me and i had worry's -Id just start changing all the gaskets from the heads up.115.00 for all the gaskets in a kit. (Make sure you pick up some of that cooper coating for the head gaskets)!
