Default 1998 speedometer cluster question

1998 f-150 V6 4.2L 5-speed manual

I have a problem with a dead speedo cluster - guages dead, lights still working. Decided to buy a replacement on e-bay. Got a deal on one, but realized when it got here that it came from an automatic trans truck and has a digital odometer where my broken one has the old school analog odometer.

Before I pull the dash apart again, will the digital model work? thanks!

I don't think that it will, based on no particular knowledge, but if it does. I might be looking for one also. I have the same set up as you and I would prefer a Digital Speedo over the Analog one it has.

97-98 have analog odometer, and 99+ digital. Not interchangeable.
Go to a junkyard and pull one yourself from 97-98 F150 or Ford Expedition. I am not sure about 97-98 F250.

Electronically, the 97-98 are different from the 99 and up. Something on how the signalling is distributed on the 99s and up vs. earlier models.
