I have replaced all new , water pump,,,thermostat,,radiator,,heater core,,blend door,,hoses and tubes,,,,, now, heat hasn't been 100%,, only about 75%,,,for 6-7 months old,,,,
today, I was backing out of a parking lot and , POW, sounded like an M-80 went off,,,,,,get out of the truck and nothing on the ground,,,,,,,so I raise the hood and discover on driver's side fender well,,,, anti-freeze,,,,,,but,,,,no leaking , none on the ground , while running or not,,,no leaks,,,,
fender well and drivers side wheel covered in AF,,,,,only lost about 2" out of the filler can, I think,, may have been a little low anyway... (forget what that is called, please tell me).
drive it home and does not over heat or lose fluid,,,and here is the kicker,,I all of a sudden have 100% FORD heat,, actually have to adjust the temp **** back to where it should be,, about 1 o'clock position.....
anyone have a clue where the AF come from? I'm thinkin pressure blew a hole in the dry side (overflow side) of that filler jug but I couldn't find anything in the short time I had to look ,,cause it got dark on me......it's a 5.4 w/ 240k,,maybe a common prob??? help is greatly appreciated.....Thanks H41

Reservoir tank is what I call it and my best guess is there was an air bubble in the lines and it circulated through blew a hose loose that goes to that tank and now your heat will work 100% cuz there is no more air in the lines
thats possible I guess, but after 10-12 block flushes and same results after each,,,maybe something like a chunk of rust had it stopped up,,, but where did the AF on the fender well come from?
this truck's cooling system has been a real pita,,,,I guess I just don't fully understand the sealed system....

ps: reservoir is what I have always refered it as,, but there is a newfangled name for it on here....lol

thats what I tried to focus on this afternoon when I unbolted the res. couldn't find a hole so I looked at the seam and felt a little difference in one area of it.. but not visiual......vac.test will tell me ......this has been one strange SOB cooling system man.......thanks I will tell when I find out....H41

i am the tech manager at Prestone coolants. Sounds like you had an air bubble in the cooling system from when you did all the work and it finally worked its way back to the coolant recovery bottle. Likely lifted the cap in the process (sound). Keep an eye on it and if it is not overheating or leaking your good.
