Here's the story drove to the college. Ran fine. Battery amps looking good on the dash like always. Pull in and park. Do what I have to do. Takes about 20 minutes come back out turn the key and nothing but click click click. Dead battery. So I get someone to jump me off. Unhook the cables keep her idled up and then.... There goes all my gauges nothing working then she dies. Tried one more time same result so got a ride to advance auto and picked up and new battery and put it in. Started fine and running better then ever but half way home my battery light comes on. Then a few miles later goes off then a few more miles back on then stays on. Get home and cut it off. Wait minute then crank it back up. Battery light on. Idle it up battery light goes off. Let it come back down battery light comes back on. Do that a few more times then it just stays on. I'm thinking altinator? What's some of your opinions? It's never showed any signs what so ever of the alt going bad. Always fires right up. No squeals nothing. What could it be? I guess I could always have it tested but I really don't want to pull it off and take it for it nit to be it then put it right back on. Any help would be highly appreciated. Thanks yall!

do you have a digital multi meter? Check the volts while the truck is running. It should be 13.8-14.2 volts. If its like 13 or 12 volts or something is usually a good sign of the alternator being bad. Also while the truck is off get an amp reading between the positive and negative posts of the battery. It'll tell you if anything excessive is draining the battery.
