Default Coil spring help

I have a 2002 2wd f150 XL 4.2L. I have taken out the front spring to replace with new MOOG 7268 problem solvers. Didnt have to compress the spring to get out or back in. However the new springs do not seem to sit in the lower control arm very well and if they do then the top doesnt fit. One end of the spring is tangentail and one end is I think square. The square end is flat and very close the the other coil. Which is the top and which is the bottom? Do you have to compress spring to get the lower control arm in correct spot ?

I will, but im not going to put everything together bolt it all up have it in a binde, when I know the spring isnt sitting correctly. The OEM sits in there like it should.

Do you have it in the correct orientation? Top side down or other way?

That's one of the questions he asked.

Moog (at least one of their their dealer's does anyway) says it's the right part. http://www.moog-suspension-parts.com...rtid=MOOG-7268

If the spring isn't identical to stock Moog should have written some short assembly instructions. Seems like they dropped the ball there. You can "ask a question" on their web site. They might have some internal documents that tell what the engineers were thinking when they changed the design. Might be that the squared end just makes it easier to install, by standing up straight in the bottom perch. If the top and bottom perch are the same shape then it won't matter to the spring which way you install it.

There's the right coil spring, but don't forget to change the coil spring isolator.

The isolator goes on the toenail end and towards the top. The flat end will go into the lower control arm and you will need to compress the spring to get it to seat properly.
