Code Alarm Ford Installed Alarm system help
Hey all, just picked up a low mileage 99 F150 4.2 for a very fair price - going to keep it around the house for home improvement projects.
It came from the previous owner with what I thought was an aftermarket alarm, but after doing a couple days of googling and research, I am fairly certain it is dealer installed code alarm (the one that uses the Ford branded remote fobs - they are code alarm fobs, I checked the FCC-ID, but they just say FORD on them).
This thing is wonky - it goes off for no reason. It arms itself after like half a minute and then you can't start the truck again without pressing unlock AGAIN. I live in a safe area, I don't need/want it.
So I found the module under the dash. I unplugged it, and of course the truck wouldn't start. Luckily I have a hanes manual and found the wire that interrupts the starter, so i removed it from the harness and spliced it back together so I can drive it now. The problem is, with the main alarm harness unplugged, my power door locks are in-op - even from the switches inside on the doors themselves. I figured I would lose my remote, but not the internal door switches.
Is that a normal part of the alarm install to interrupt the door lock switches from the actual doors too? Does anyone by any remote chance have a wiring diagram for the code alarm unit? I have the wiring for the truck but I don't want to have to unspool everything under the dash if I can just jumper a pin or two to get my locks back.
Thanks!
James

I worked at a car audio shop for quite some time and I saw this **** a lot. Long story short, remove the whole alarm.
Yes the alarm interferes with the door locks, how else would you press "lock" or "unlock" on the remote and the doors actually do it? You will most likely need a professional to uninstall the alarm. The wiring diagrams aren't online for the good alarms (such as Viper) because then thieves would just do research and find out how to make it easier.

I have the code alarm on the 98, but all I use from the system is auto start. That's the only reason I still have it. That part of it works flawlessly. Awhile back I managed to acquire install and programming documentation. Once in a great while I need to reprogram and go through the steps to do so.
Door locks and such, I use the Ford key fobe that comes with all trucks, or most anyway.
Under the dash there's a nest of fused wires stemming from the code alarm system. But like I said, I only use the auto start, nothing else.
So yea, I have the procedures for programming and DE-programming.
