Default Code P1285 and P1299

I've been looking for a F150 to buy. I came across a 2000 F150 4x4 with the 5.4L 2V. It's kind of high mileage but that's not a huge concern for me. So I went and test drove it. It ran solid but I noticed the CEL is on. Luckily I had my XCAL in my mustang so I pulled the codes and it gave me P1285 and P1299. P1285 is saying Cylinder Head Over Temperature Sensed but P1299 doesn't give a description. I know that the truck runs hot if you run the A/C which I assumed was just a dirty condensor and/or radiator but now i'm not so sure. I've read that the 3V will show both these codes and has a TSB for this. Does the 2V have this problem too? If not has anyone seen this problem??

Found this via search engine. Called the owner and he checked the coolant level for me and says it is fine. I checked the engine oil and it looked fine. Also, checked tranny fluid... it did look a little off color but didn't think much of it..

Don't mean to hijack your post, but my 2000 F-150 overheated last week, I shut it down, fixed the problem, (fuse to electric fans blew) drained the coolant, ran flush thru it, and replenished with fresh antifreeze. But the CEL stayed on, and the codes are P1299, and P1285. Disconnected Battery terminal, CEL stays on. Truck runs fine, perfect. How do I reset the CEL? 5.4 Lariat, 4X4.

Don't reply to a 7 year old post with a new question, just start one of your own.
You reset the CEL by either clearing it with a code reader or disconnecting the battery. If the light stays on and you still have the code, then the problem is not fixed. If the light is on and you have no codes, that is another issue.
