Clutch issues.
Hi there fellow F150 enthusiasts I'm having an issue with my truck that is driving me insane and need some advice. The truck is a 97 F150 4.6 2wd manual. I was experiencing a squeaking sound when coasting in gear foot off the gas. When I apply the gas pedal it disappeared. Also pressing the clutch pedal makes the noise disappear. So dropped the transmission and replaced the clutch, slave cylinder and pilot bearing. Took it for a drive and squeaking/screeching still there. Its sending me bananas.

I've checked the crank for 'end float' and have no movement. Unsure if it could be the input shaft bearing i know when they have wear it rumbles but I'm running out of ideas. Any advice welcome.

When you had the driveshaft out, did you check the condition of your u-joints?

Any chance it goes away while depressing the clutch pedal but not engaging the clutch? Can you even depress the pedal without engaging the clutch? For some reason Ford has set the clutch to engage almost immediately when depressing the pedal.

Hi Quick Cal thanks for your reply, I replaced the fluid when new clutch, slave cylinder and spigot bearing was installed last week. Its a major head scratcher as everything is new.
I know I'm gonna have to remove the gearbox again and the only thing I haven't changed is the input shaft bearing. However when worn they tend to rumble not squeaky/squeal.
