Default Cleaning Injectors

Hi guys, I'm hoping someone may know the answer to this, I have a 2002 f150 with a 4.2 V6 I'll have the injectors out of the engine. So I want to run injector cleaner through them on the bench. I'm going to hook up a 12 volt battery to get the injector to operate. I know I need to pulse the injector. My question is, is 12 volts to much voltage or do I need to use less. I've researched for a week and can't seem to find out how much voltage the computer sends to the injectors and it's not in my manual. Does anyone have the answer?

A million thanks in advance,

Michael

Usually they're 5V

Hooking it up directly to a car battery is not a safe method. A much safer method would be to use a 9 volt battery, and manually pulse the injector.

But yes, as LaMartian said, they run on 5 volts... which I believe all circuits from the PCM do.

I know we don't all just have one laying around... but the power supply that supplies my radio (see my profile picture) is adjustable. I'd probably just drop that down to 5V or whatever and use that.

Most cell phone chargers that are USB based are 5 volt. You could always make something with a charger.

Better be a good charger though... not some cheapo one that puts out 5V with miserably little amperage
