Cheap upgrades to 98' F150
I have a 1998 F-150 4.6L long bed 4wd. Just a plain green truck, it was an older mans truck before me, nothing special. I am a college student don't have too much money, but I want to do a few nice things to it. I was wondering cold air? Do you need a K&N or will the other ones do just as well? Also any good exterior add-ons, projector lights?

Skip the CAI, add power windows and locks if it's an XL. Crank the t-bars and add a block to get a cheap lift. Exhaust, maybe a cheap used tuner.
I personally wouldn't waste my money on projectors unless your stock headlights are fogging up or otherwise need replacement.

I upgraded my F150 XL to a 4X4 for just $6.00.
I got a really nice factory looking chrome 4X4 emblem at Advance Auto and stuck it right under the Ford emblem on the tailgate.
Looks factory, impresses people.
Hey, it is a 4X4, it has 4 wheels and 4 tires.
I like K&N but the other cold air intakes will probably work fine and they are a lot cheaper.
My favorite upgrade on my truck was going to the largest factory tires and getting a brand new set, they look great and I don't have to worry about them blowing up on the road like the old ones that came with the truck.
I also put a new headliner in the truck for $15.00 total, it was too easy and looks fantastic. Got the headlier material at a local fabric place and the color match was perfect. I also bought a Mossy Oak camo bench seat cover even though my seats were fine that I love that thing.

Why not pick up some Lariat 5.4L badges and FX4 stickers while your at it.

ive done both, i noticed minimal power gain from the gotts mod and the silencer mod just opens up the intake hose more. its cheap, the gotts mod only cost like $11 for the hose coupling and the pvc pipe and took about a half-hour to do. silencer mod dont cost a thing except time.
