Default cheap replacement shocks

I bought and installed some cheap shocks from autozone over the summer. I think they were Gabriel Ultra's or something. The ride is quite ****ty. Is it because the shocks suck or because I have 33" tires... or both? I'm thinking about getting some Rancho's b/c there's free installation at Sears when you buy them.

What type lift do you have? Factory shocks are not designed for any lift.

Default KYB Gas Adjust

I highly recommend KYB Gas Adjust. They are a monotube shock like the rancho, only they don't cost as much. They come in various lengths, so if your truck is lifted they can get you the right ones.

The difference between the Rancho and the KYB is that KYB uses a phenalic piston ring instead of a teflon seal. Rancho is made by TENECO shocks, who also make Monroes. They are all junk! KYB is the way to go!

I recently upgraded from Pro Comp 3000's to Rancho RS5000's and what a difference it made. The ranchos with new Xtreme AT's from pro comp improved the ride quality a great deal. Those ProComp 3000's turned out to be crap. The fronts were like half the size of the stock shocks I replaced a few years ago. I was running 33inch pro comp MT's at the time. I am very happy with the Ranchos on my stock suspension w/ 33's.
