Default CB Antenna location

just wondering where if anyone has a CB install on their truck where a good place to mount the antenna. i have a cobra 29 lx cb radio and looking for the right antenna to go with it. If anyone on here could give me some ideas that would be great and much appreciated. and also what antenna you have that think would work good.

What kind of range are you looking for? Do you want to drill for mounting?

it doesn't bother me to drill for the mount I have the radio mounted under the 12 plug with just enough clearance so i can still use them both and open the cup holder. but ya as for the antenna its not a show truck so won't bother me at all on place to mount the antenna. Range id like to get out to atleast 4 plus miles if possible or further.

Best range without a kicker is done with a 102" whip antenna on a spring. Those are normally mounted on the outside of the bed with a bolt on mount then the coax is routed to the back to the cab inside of the body using a rubber plug into the cab to the back of the radio. As a caution do not coil the coax into a circle it can cause induction which reduces range and causes SWR to increase. Right side near the rear will give best range to the front left corner of the truck, Left rear will do the same to the right front. Ideal is in the bed, center of the truck as measured from right front to left rear and left front to right rear, but then you cannot use the bed. If you have a gull wing tool box (opens on each side middle strip does not open) you could also mount it there in the middle using a magnetic mount and Lil ***** antenna, running the coax over the front lip of the bed and into the cab as described before.
Hope this helps

ok what if i want to go with like a fiberglass antenna as that antenna is just a lil big for my normal style of driving (everyday driver). I have had one on an off road rig and holy crap it reached out and touched stuff lol.

Do you have a headache rack on your truck or a tool box?

If you have a step rear bumper you could mount it there outside of the swing of the tailgate

Depending on the design of the bumper you could use a clamp on mount between the bumper and truck
