I wouldn't simply talk to the mechanics. I'd go straight to the higher ups. Who knows what happened with a wrench slinging around inside there.

@skizriz yeah your right Because i really don't know where it traveled from i just know where it landed. seems like there is a lot of room in there so i guess it could have come from anywhere in the transmission. do you think i should have it towed up there or drive it since threr going to have to do work either way?

If it's just laying in the housing now, and not hitting anything, as long as it doesn't move you will be ok. Just need to keep it from getting lost into the case again, so you can show them their wrench. (ball of tape on it?)
If it won't fit out through the hole, there's only one way it could have gotten in there, whoever had the case apart is missing a wrench.

And where is the other half??????? That would worry me.

yeah i gues some tape around it should work. yeah it kinda messed up that they lost it and did not care enough to find it. I'm really worried about the work there going to do to fix it though. if they don't care enough to find a broken wrench how can i trust them to fix this? should i have them replace the tranny or rebuild it? this is crappy how do you trust them to fix it "YELLLL"

my guess is that the other end of the wrench is still in there somewhere so i would have them take everything apart and repair for free. Theres no way a human hand could break a snap on wrench, which means it broke inside

Well I'd make sure they pull it apart & look for damages , or that they give you a written warranty with no expiration on this damage .They may choose to let you drive , hoping everything stays in top form & they lose nothing . That assures you if further damages might occur in the future , you will be covered...Don't have or let them remove it before you have everything legal , & to your liking . (an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure )
