Mine hammers away for about 20 mins or more until really hot. In winter it can be almost an hour Sounds like bottom end. (Or lacking tons of oil) Had exhaust put on and has made tick less noticeable. Uses about 1/2 litre of oil per oil change. I've been told it's normal. I've learned to live with it. With brand new oil knock goes away for a day or two then right back at it

These engines generally won't do this. Unless your using the wrong oil and filter.

But who would ever do that?

Using 5w20 amsoil synthetic. Mopar filter cuz I work at dodge but correct number from
The book. Had same noise when I bought it with ford filter although I will try a motorcraft one again just to be sure. Thanks I will give it a try

Yup, using the wrong stuff.

BTW-Ford doesn't make oil filters.

Motorcraft is Fords line of OEM parts.

Yeah that's what I was thinking. Why else in the owners manual they recommend motorcraft every thing.

5w20 is whats recommended for my 5.4. idk what you're smoking but you might wanna double check your owners manual.
