Default Cam synchro/ sensor !help!

Hi guys,
I recently removed my cam synchro gear because I was removing the timing cover.. Anywho, I marked the gear and the sensor and put everything back together correctly (I think...)

If somehow the gear was moved clockwise or counterclockwise one gear tooth, would my engine still run? Would the spark/ injector timing be close enough for it to idle but not accelerate?

I ask because im having serious hesitation/ bucking/ missing problems upon acceleration.

Well I was basically wondering if the engine would run or not. If it does run and the gear was 1 tooth off would it run ****ty.

So I guess you think it will run but not very well?
Its only under load/ acceleration that it hesitates

I messed up on an old suzuki quad some years ago and I was one tooth off time - Idled fine but did some weird stuff when I touched the throttle. I couldn't believe it even started like that.

Damn.
Should I just take it to ford to have it re-calibrated?
How many arms and legs will that cost...?

Also... It runs fine at high RPM's as long as I didnt put it under a load to get it to high RPM

How sure are you that it was put back exactly as it was before ? I have a feeling Austin97 would have a better idea of whats going on here.

Think I should PM him? We have never spoke.

You are correct... I dont know for sure if it was reinstalled correctly. I am just wondering if it would run fine at low RPM and crappy at high RPM or if it would run crappy through the whole range or even run at all.

I would - He seems to be very good at technical problems, And are you sure everything is connected (sensors)? Are there any codes being thrown ?
