They we're an option on some model F250s because they fell just short of the width requiring them to have clearance lights... But they we're offered as an option if you planned to tow large trailers that fell into these categories... at which point you'd be required to have them and could be ticketed by the DOT for not having them...

They we're installed at the factory if the vehicle fell into the federal requirements depending on the packages/vehicle offered...

I won't repeat myself as to why he shouldn't, if you don't care to go back and read the thread you're contributing to that's fine with me...
Your truck had to start somewhere too!! Yours did not by law have to have them when you bought it!! Now it does because of the work you have done to it, I have not had my truck long and plan on doing a lot of work to it n eventually I may by law require cab lights!!

I did not install them on my truck to "look cool" when I did not meet the requirements...

I installed them on my truck when I was required to have them...

I think if this man wants to put can lights on it or not it is his decision but I put cab lights on my truck and I have a 2.5" leveling kit with 2.5" blocks in the rear I have 33" tires and idc if it's frowned upon I think it looks like one bad motha coming down the road with all the lights on so I'm all for it just remember you can't un drill holes 3 in the middle two 4" from the outermost one and it will look beautiful

Honestly I agree with a7x BUT if you are say working in a quarry were it helps to be seen then yea maybe that's not a bad idea I think they look cool as well but I don't see a need unless you are required by law to have them or need them

I just don't like the fact that soon enough clearance lights won't mean anything to anyone... And people won't know what it is supposed to mean when they see them cuz they are on everybodys car sized pick up...

They are to throw up a flag to all motorists that there is a plus sized vehicle over 80" wide approaching...

You should be pulled over and ticketed by the DOT for throwing up a false warning...

Plus they look stupid on a 2x4 no matter what except Duallys, and once again that's an extra wide rig that requires them
