Get a coolant analysis from you’re local HD equipment center. Here in So. Fla I use Kelly Tractor... $15 bucks, they do oil as well... and flush and fill with factory spec... Capacity? Drain Volume/Amount left in block after flush? Do the math...... I have a 20 Qt. Capacity. I need to add 10 Qt. Concentrate to achieve a 50/50 mix then 50/50 to fill...... most of us are diluted in our mix... IMO.....use distilled and follow this procedure ... Fords Love Factory Coolant on a regular interval with non metallic water... GL 🤙🏽

^^^^ Why don't you mix it before you put it in?

Because there’s always water left behind after flushing. If you just drain and fill you’ll probably be OK. But if you’re flushing there will always be water left behind. It’s up to you to find out how much. If you don’t pull the plug on the block it’s going to be more in my case only half the capacity came out which was 10 Quarts. So I had 10 quarts of distilled water left in my block and hoses. Had I added 50-50 mix I would only end up with 25% coolant mix.

Hmmm... I just mix it beforehand (or buy it pre-mixed) instead of trying to keep track of what went in. Just easier, IMO.

That’s why we’re on a brown coolant thread. People are having trouble with the status quo.

The problem is that it doesn't get changed, period. If someone isn't proactive enough to change it every 2 years, I don't think they are "mixers". I change mine as it should be, and I find it much, much easier to just buy it ready to go. The only thing I use the distilled for is the flush.

That’s great.... To everyone else whose contributed to the thread..... mine was changed every 2 years and I still had rust... it was done professionally by a reputable nationwide service center who is very familiar with Ford vehicles..... and yet I still had rust..... I paid for coolant flush and it was performed. Yet I still had rust.... I believe we’ve solved the problem. As GT stated change coolant regularly whatever your process is......check often and monitor color changes..

I say, Follow my procedure based on you’re capacity. Use the Motorcraft VC1 flush agent with distilled. Monitor how much drains out vs. how much is left in...This is very easy to do with Gallon jugs of distilled....Add Motorcraft Gold Concentrate till you’ve reached 50/50 mix then Premix to fill. It is the most accurate method there is Period! CogentFord out....🎤

I would rather use Motorcraft VC1 flush agent as VC9 is not meant for all applications and could damage aluminum blocks and components....

here is an application chart. Hope it’s helpful.

Right, there's a lot left in the block, I mean a lot, so you always have to flush. Looks like you figured it out. I use capacity and do the math, then double check it with a meter. Can't do that with 50/50 mix.
