I think it was the 5.4 that had the problem... nothing else.

its the 3 valve 5.4l engines that have this problem :/ (my engine) i know the 2 valve liked to blow them out of the head, never heard anything about the 4.2l. like metropolis said soak them and TAKE YOUR TIME. do it when the motor is ice cold, so let it sit over night before tearing into it. good luck

Thanks guys, there is a lot of stuff I dont know about on the fords, 3 valves. 2 piece plugs, soaking plugs, been a life long chevy guy here but just think that ford has the better product now plus they didnt do the we are broke and if you dont bail us out were going under thing. That really pisses me off they new that was coming for years. The newer chevys are plain no bling and just look sick. THanks again for your advice.

Shi....t... I pulled the 8 plugs out of my 4.6L with a buddy of mine after I drove to his place which was approx. a thirty min drive. Engine was hot... Didn't break one and it had two piece plugs and that is what I put back into it.

that is because it is the 5.4 3 valve engines that have that problem.
