Default Broken cat causing loss of power

So my truck has about 40% power loss, and i looked under the truck and both of my cats are rattling like crazy at idle and im pretty positive that the material inside has failed and fallen apart, and im pretty sure that may be the problem any ideas

Are you sure the rattle is internal and not the crimped-on heat shields on the cats? You may have other issues and just loose sheet metal on the cats' exteriors.

No its inside the converted, and instead of replacing them, for now ill just gut them out, but is that ehat could be causing power loss?

If plugged up, yes. Magnaflow makes high-flow replacements that are surprisingly affordable when compared to OEM... just a thought.

Then do it.

Why do you need to ask us? People do it all the time.

Actually you just wanted someone to say yes or no... your early post said exactly that. You can do whatever you want to your own truck.

So Can you do it? Sure go ahead. Should you do it? Well look at everyone else's responses.

Everyone else is just trying to tell you how to do it right. There's more than one way to skin a cat.... but only the correct ways keep you from gettin scratched
