Default Body Mounts

Hi I have some questions about the body mounts on a 2001 regular cab f150 I am removing the whole body. Does anyone have any tips for getting the box bolts out? I tried quick yesterday and none of them would budge. Also I took a quick look at the cab I only see for mounts is there anymore? Thanks for your time.

There are too at the very front like on either side of the radiator it has to be pulled to get to them but they're a little different than the rest in that they have a normal nut not body mount bushing

if i remember right the bed bolt size is a torx 55 and i just used a breaker bar and some persuasion to get them out lol. and for the cab, there are six bolts. two are at the very front, and the bolts come out from the bottom you dont have to remove the radiator. there are access holes under the carpet in the very front, one on either side and also two access holes under the carpet in the rear of the cab. use a 1/2" drive breaker bar and be patient they are fine threaded with red lock-tite so they're tough to come out.

Don't have any personal experience but I work at a ford dealership and a lot of mechanics will hit all the bolts with a generous bit of pb blaster or liquid wrench and let it sit overnight before breaking them free.

The box bolts?... After snapping about 3 torx bits and smashing my elbow against the bed I grinded all the heads off and then cut the clip nuts off the frame...

Hope they break loose for ya, otherwise it's pretty easy to grind em of

Cut the tops into a square and use a crescent wrench or pipe wrench. If that fails, do what a7x said but dont grind the heads of the bolts off. Doesn't help you in the least

How does it not help? that's what I did, then you just go under and snip the thin little metal clip underneath and the bolts fall right out...

IMO standing in the wide open bed grinding is better than laying under the truck grinding all the way through the bolts fighting with no elbow room... Personal preference I guess...
If you're spending the time cutting enough to square off the heads, you might as well go right through and be done with it

I tried cutting the head and clipnut off one when I swapped my box like you said but the bolts wouldn't pass through the frame or box holes. I had to push the one i cut up into the box. Which made cutting the head off pointless

Being the bolt flares out about 1" from the underside of the head I would have had to cut the box up to get past the flared part so it would drop out. This was the same on the 97 and 98. 99+ I'm not sure if ford kept the bolt design..

Yeah I had no problem with em...

Either way he's trying to get the bed off the frame, not the frame off the bed... I think I'd rather grind up top and pick the bed up and off when the heads are gone... Then clean the bolts off the frame with the torches later while standing up...

Rather than laying underneath eating all the crud, dirt and grindings that fly and rattle off...

Like I said, how does grinding the heads off NOT help? ? ?
And also like I said personal preference...
