Default Blue Smoke?

Hi everyone I have a 1997 Ford F150 with the 4.6 V8 and on start ups occasionally it smokes a little not for a long time just a few seconds and it does use some oil between changes. It doesn't feel like its on its last leg though it still feels great when you stomp on it so im not sure how serious of a problem this is some advice would be appreciated thanks- zach

Default Try This:

Put a bottle of Bar's Stop Leak and 8oz of STP into the crankcase. The blue smoke is likely due to old intake valve-stem seals leaking a little oil. The STP will help reduce that leakage immediately and the Stop Leak will recondition the seals over the longer haul.

I used the scheme in my '94 LTC 4.6L and the oil mileage has been nearly doubled and the little puff of blue on cold-start has been eliminated.

Sometime between '94 and '97 Ford changed the material in the valve-stem seals to a material less subject to harening. My '97 F150 4.6L at 127Kmiles uses zero oil. My '94 LTC , 175Kmiles, was using a quart in about 1K.

Thanks I'll try that out I was worried it was something serious but I also wasn't sure because it doesn't seem gutless it still feels very strong and I love it. And I put that stuff in when I change my oil correct? Thanks again!
