Default Blocks

My 2003 Fx4 comes from the factory with 2" blocks and the "rancho" shocks that aren't really rancho's. I would like to swap them with some 4" blocks if I did, would I have to get bigger shocks or would I be alright. I have also seen 5.5" blocks but those sound like an accident waiting to happen.

I wouldn't recommend using blocks. Just get some lift shackles.

I did a 2" AAL on my 02screw, that's the route I would recommend. It's not a hard job and I didn't notice a change in ride. Make sure you get the long leafs not the short. I went with the AAL also to help in towing. Your factory shocks are ok length wise, only need to replace them if they are bad.

Maybe if I explain what I want to do it will make it easier to give a suggestion. I want to be able to put a set of 17x9 wheels on the truck with 33x12.5x17 tires. I know I am capable of doing this with just a torsion bar crank. My concern is when I do have to tow/haul that I will rub. This is why I would like to put 4" blocks in the rear or something that will give me similar ride height, along with a torsion bar Crank.

Lmfao. Yeah that pic was actually caused by lift block failure. We still crack jokes to him about it even though that happened a while back. A lift shackle connects one end of the leaf spring to the hangar on the truck. They make lowering shackles which lower the truck because they're shorter, and lift shackles that raise the truck because they're longer.
