Default Bleeding abs pump?

I am going to replace the abs pump/module. Is there a special way to bleed the system or can i bleed it the traditional way through the calipers?

Everything im finding says replace pump, refill with fluid, start bleeding at rr then lr then fr then fl, drive then repeat if there is pedal fade.

Tldr; pretty much standard bleed process.

No a Abs bleed through a scan tool needs to be done.

He's talking about an electronic service bleed, can only be performed with the proper Ford diagnostic tool (scanner), it's essential if you ever want your brakes to work right. IDS, NGS, WDS are 3 that I'm familiar with, 2 of them I own.

For the $$ I'd get the IDS as it can do a lot more than NGS not to mention supporting 2013 and newer. NGS is a one shot price, you get what ever it's latest update is. IDS is updated dynamically.

Ebay sells some Chinese knock off IDS's but they are hit or miss whether they work or not.

I checked autoenguity chatroom about this subject. I find consistently that a scan tool is not a must. You can activate abs by making a sudden stop in an unpaved road/parking lot. If you are set to get a scan tool, unless you are a professonal, I would suggest autoenginuity since it is a fraction of price.

Just because you activate the ABS module, it does not mean you will get a proper bleed along with the possibility of getting air stuck in the dump valves. I have had this happen before. Its best it pressure bleed the entire system and then perform/have a ABS bleed done.
