Default Blackedout1998 Build Thread

I'v been pushing myself to start a build thread for quite sometime. But I'm either working or outside. But i guess lets start this. I started with a bone stock 98' f150 xlt 4.6.

After being sick and tired of chrome for long enough I decided to plasti dip all my chrome this included the bumpers, emblems, and grill. For awhile I stopped adding anything then I went along and tinted my tail lights and third brake light. Sorry for no pics seeing as I didnt take many early on. I went on a tinted my corner lights and added 8000k HIDS. I replaced my grille with a homemade one and added a bullbar from the junkyard that I picked up for 20 bucks.

I added a a tool box with marker lights. Problem was the tool box was made for a ranger so I made it fit. I added a Bully Tailgate Bar with reverse. I will never purchase one of these bars ever again such crappy quality and its just a bad product. Lasted two months. I added two led bolts to my license plate lights .

I removed the small tool box and added a full size gullwing and added my lights to that one.

I removed the ford emblem from the tool box and added it to my tailgate it took the place of the original emblem. Sorry I dont have a picture of it before we ripped it off when duck hunting. I added green puddle lamps and white leds on the floor that are triggered to turn on when the door is opened.

I used bondo on the rust spots and bedlined my rockers, fenders, and bumper pads and bullbar.

So now comes the face uplift. I added Euro style black headlights and corners. I added a billet grille and installed two led flood lamps underneath my skid
plate that used the original hardware. I added two led lights on top of my bullba, which are pity bright compared to the other two. I added 6000k hids to my foglights and built a custom switch panel in the cab ( pictures to come). I added led switchback bulbs to my corner lights and added resistors to fix hyper flashing.

So I have a JVC deck with a 12" mtx sub 0 gauge wire. It thumps. Thats how she sits now. Im looking at 21.5" led light bar for my bullbar or should I get clear fog lights first. Any opinions. Thanks for looking, 98'

Dont forget about the 33" bald mud grapplers. I have 315/75/16 Cooper ST's at home. Just waiting til' the snow gets deeper before I break down and put them on. Im planning on purchasing a set of 16x8 Fuel Boost's around tax time

You should get some smoked cab lights.

Hopefully you actually took care of the rust before throwing bondo on it. Your truck is real nice and it would suck to have it start rusting out because you took some short cuts.

I removed all the rust. Sanded it. Welded in patches. Coated it with chassis saver. And actually reseal the whole rocker sections and made sure there was no rust left.

Hey I love your truck and I have 2 questions for you. 1 I like those smoked out corner lights you used to have. Did you ever find cop trouble with those things? Looking to do it myself. And 2. I was looking to make a homemade grill also that looks just like your old homemade one. I would love to know how you made it or any tips on making one!
