Default Bed Weight

Any idea what a 6' bed weighs on my truck? I'd like to pull it to hit the rust on the truck with a grinder with a wire brush on it and then get some rustoleum rust reformer on it or some sort of similar product. I just don't know is it feasible for a couple of people to lift it off or is that nuts? I figure 10 gauge sheet metal is 5.5 poundsish per sf. I figure 25 sf for the bed and wheel wells. That gives about 130 pounds. Call it triple that or 400 pounds for the bed? Is that close?

I did it myself the first time but its way easyier with two people. If you have and engine hoist that works too

Sounds like it's much less than the 400 pounds I figured or you're a much better man than I.

The bed weighs about 375-400 if its a 00+. For some reason the 97-99 are heavier. When I had mine off it was closer to 450. My dad and I pulled it no porblem. Also if your truck has ever seen mud, be prepared for it be slightly heavier.

Me and my 65 year old father took mine off no problem (6.5 foot bed). It's not so much the weight as it is the awkwardness of it. Find a strong buddy, take it easy and you'll be fine.
