Bed liner as trim
I want to put bedliner on as my trim after i patch rust and i have a few questions. Ive read that people really like herculiner and rolling on the bedliner and that the spray cans leave runs ect. But ive also read that the roll on kind doesnt apply well and the spray can is better for trim. Not sure which to go with. Practically deciding between roll on herculiner and spray on duplicolor. Any suggestions let me know. Thanks. I have a 1998 f150 ext cab 4x4 light blue
This is what is looked like before. The rust bubbles all was just lifted paint with no metal rot or pitting so I was in good shape to begin with. I rough sanded, acetoned, sprayed with rust converting primer, rolled on the herculiner twice, two coats of charcoal spray to match, two coats of spray gloss clear coat

jferg92. What state is your truck from or in? You have little to no rust for your year truck. I climbed under mine the other day to put in a backup camera, and was surprised. NO rust anywhere under my truck. Mines a 98, and I expected to see some, but happily, none was to be found. I only have 119k on the clock, and it hasn't seen a lot of off roading, that I can see or find. My 90 F150 has only a small spot on the driver's cab corner. It just turned 93k miles this summer. It doesn't get driven much, but this winter will get a full makeover.
Most of the older trucks up here (Alaska) have a small to decent amount of rust, especially 73-86 Fords, and 73-99 Chevy's. The Ford's seems to outlast the Chevy's in the rust department, here at least. We won't even talk about the older Dodges, as there aren't that many still road worthy here. I've only seen a few of the 97-03 Fords rusty, but the ones that were, seemed to be really rusty. Usually under the rear doors or cab corners. Rarely have I seen a 97 up bed be rusty over the wheel wells, unlike the older Gen 8 and 9 trucks.
