Default Battery

For my 3rd time, this morning my battery was dead. I went to Tires Plus because they had a sale on Interstate Batteries. They removed my old one (I watched them closely) and it was a Motorcraft battery. It looked original but there were no dates on it. It was only putting out 240 CCA.

I picked up an 850 CCA battery and tossed it in there. My truck has never started so quickly in its 8 months I have owned it.

I cannot complain about the price either. $96.00. I would have installed it myself but I just did not feel like freezing my hands off outside in -10F weather.

Having an issue with my battery too. I just installed a new one 2 months ago. Truck sat over night and it was about -15, went to start it in the morning and nothing happened, no nights, no click, nothing. Jump started it and drove it for about 45 minutes. Parked it, shut it off and started it right back up with no issues. Let it sit for about an hour or two and no juice at all. Jumped it once again to make it to work, 12 hour shift later and no nights, no click, nothing. Jump started it to make it home. Sound like a bad battery?

If your battery is 2 months old, then something has to be draining your battery. Cold affects battery performance, but will not kill a new battery that is fully charged. Perhaps it's not be charged, though your truck will run once jumped, so your alternator is charging, but is that charge reaching the battery?
What caused you to buy a new battery 2 months ago?

I replaced the battery 2 months ago because the truck sat for 8 months before I bought it and needed a new one. For a while I think my cd player was draining my battery when the truck was off. So I turned the cd player off and haven't turned it back on for a few weeks and the battery has stayed charged, I pulled the wiring apart and rewired it and has worked fine ever since. The truck sat for a week and started right up after cold weather. That day i reinstalled my factory fog lights after repairing the housing. The next day the battery was dead. One fog light works and the other needs a new bulb. I have no idea what the deal is. If I jump the truck and let it run it will charge the battery because I can turn it off and restart it within minutes. If I let it sit for hours it will be completely drained.

Obviously something is draining your battery. If everything was fine before you worked on fog lights, perhaps go back and double check your wiring connections. It would be the first thing I would check.

Try unhooking the one that is not working and see if that solves the problem.
Perhaps there is a problem within that light.
I know about cold....It was -20(-4 F) something today without windchill factor.

I will try that. Thanks for the help. I hate electrical stuff. I can rebuild engines and anything else you can through at me but I cant track down electric stuff very well.
