I just looked and my tool indeed sets it at 11 o'clock. Had to flip the pic because the tool was upside down when I took the pic, but this is the position it places the crank.

I set my keyway at 11. I have that special tool that keep the keyway at 11. 1 through 4 is good it number 6 that is giving me trouble. The exhaust valve is hitting the piston. I try to turn its timing mark to 90 and i can get to about 75 before it binds up. I undid the bolts that hold the cam in and turned clockwise it past 90. Bolted everything back up and turned it back 90 and it’s bound up.

The problem is, you probably have piston 6 all the way at the top, and it is hitting valves when the crank is at 11. I had the same thing happen on the truck I was working on. I just turned the crank a bit (dropping number 6 piston) then rotated the cam around without the valve contacting the piston. Then I turned the crank back to 11 o'clock.

I don't know what piston was hitting for me, but it was on the drivers side - so I would assume it was 6 also.

It doesn’t match the diagrams but if you read the words it essentially say the key ways need to be pointing at the crank shaft.

You think this will work or should i keep fighting and put the dot to 90? Cause when i put the dot to 90 and the crank back to TDC the piton touch the valve on 6. The dots don’t even line ip with the keyway.

These dots on RH sprocket Line up with the keyway.
Ues thats what i have right now. So i was looking at the old gear for the driverside and i came up with this.

So my theory worked. I just lined up the keyway ignored the dots and then lined up the dots to the bright links and made sure the chain was tight in the right places. Then i turned the crank 4 full revolutions and no binding

LOL.... IIRC, someone asked the 11 question in his thread and it didn't get answered. If I wasn't pretty fresh off of a chain install, I wouldn't have thought twice.
