Default Back up Camera Question

This forum has been priceless in helping me install an Alpine IVA-W205 headunit into my 2002 Harley F150. So thank you ALL for that! Now I need a bit more help please! Everything seemed to work fine until I hooked up the backup camera. Once I tapped the "reverse" wire from the headunit to the black/pink wire in the kick panel the word "camera" came up in the upper left corner of the screen. It basically locked up everything on the screen. If I put the truck in reverse the camera works perfectly. However, if I take it back out of reverse the word "camera" comes back on the screen and I'm unable to do access anything else on the headunit. If I unhook the black/pink wire everything on the headunit works as normal but no back up camera. Does anyone have any suggestions? Please help!
Thank You!

I tapped into the reverse lights in the harness under the bed. Ran the wire along with the video feed line down the frame rail and into the cab.

I connected the red wire from the camera to the black/pink reverse light wire under the bed and the black wire from the camera to ground. I ran the video wire along the frame into the cab and connected to the headunit. Backup camera did not work. I noticed a wire on the back of the headunit labeled "Reverse" I connected that to the black/pink wire in the passenger kick panel. The camera works when the the truck is in reverse. But when not in reverse the word "camera" is on the monitor and nothing else works. Just sits there with the word "camera" on the screen.

I think it needs a relay. Most modern vehicles always have 12v+ at the lights all the time.

Hey Guys, I figured it out! With the help of a test light, reading glasses and a brighter light to see what the heck I was doing I realized I tapped into a dark brown/pink wire in the kick panel instead of black/pink. So even though I feel really stupid I'm extremely happy! Thank you all for helping and sorry if I wasted anyone's time! This is a great forum! Thanks Again!

I installed a Time Delay Relay to prevent the HeadUnit from turning ON every time I shift from Park to Drive.
