Default Axle problem

Houston we have a problem. I never thought much about it until now but if I ever get stuck my differential is an open diff and it only spins one tire. I know this from experience. 100% no doubt in my mind. But I recently looks at the axle codes and it says I have a limited slip?!!!! The truck was never beaten and can’t be work out, what’s going on? The pUmpkin tag is too work or it read well. But door code axle type is H9

Any Ford axle code with a letter is limited slip.

Doesn't matter if you beat on them or not, the friction material on the clutches eventually wears down. Do you ever change the fluid? Are you the original owner? Do you know the diff was never swapped on it?

And as you know, it is limited slip, not posi-traction. It doesn't necessarily always engage both at the same amount of torque. Depending on the situation, angle of the truck, etc. Could you be more specific in your particular situation you refer to?

Yea sure, well one time I pulled off the road passenger side off the road drivers side on, thick mud I didn’t see till I was in it. I would give it a lot and only the mud tire would even attempt to spin. Another one is backing out of a gravel driveway, spun the tires, only left 1 spin mark on the gravel. Also pulled into a driveway I never did before and the front left tire dropped off the road leaving it sitting on the frame, only 1 tire was spinning and I had to push the truck up literally I get enough traction to get out of there. I have never Changed the diff fluid, I am the 2nd or 3rd owner. It only has 112,000 miles

My door sticker says I have an open differential however I replaced it with a Ford Trac-Lok. Sometimes my truck will only spin 1 wheel.
Jack up the rear end and spin the tires.
