Yeah I just want a good system, no real desire to rattle windows out of the other cars. But at the same time I want something that will last

One decent 10 would help get you there, 2000mtz has been researching subs with similar mounting depths, so he would be a great person to talk too.

I've been thru many subs (shallow mount, vs regular size) and you won't be happy with a shallow mount... mind you, it's a good starter sub... and given the limited space you have. if you don't plan to feed it 1000 watts, you'll be fine. it will add some surround bass but nothing low like 20-30hz. I agree with some who have mentioned you can built your own box out 1/2" mdf, but make sure you get a very tight sealed enclosure (unless you plan to port) the amp should be able to mount up on the wall behind your rear seat. i have two amps mounted to the wall and we fabricated a vented enclosure under my rear seat with 2 10" subs being pushed by 1000.1 @1ohm... it HITS! of all the subs I've been thru Kicker CVX's kick azz!

And unless you want to spend hours or hours refabbing your back seat and taking measurements, I suggest you not put them behind the seats.
I know on our gen supercabs, we have less than 2 inches of depth back there unless you refrain the back support rest.

He has commented on here earlier, one 10 is really all I want, but my issue is space. I haul people often enough I need my rear seat to be functional

Yeah I just want some added bass, without losing my rear seat. Do you have any suggestions for a good tight seal on 1/2" MDF, or should I consider a vented box?

I would surley put the amp under the seat versues behind. With 1 10" you should have plenty of space.

PUtting the amp behind the seat is very very difficult

Vented boxes take up much more space, and the ports need to be certain ft^3 . I would recommend a sealed enclosure.

1 sealed 10 with a well made box and proper volume would be more than what your wanting. My old 2 8's in a sealed box I made could make a water bottle dance on my roof and make the rear view mirror useless.
