Default Anyone here done some sled pulling???

Been kicking around this idea to do some sled pulling this next year and was curious of any results and so on. I was planning on clamping the springs, traction bars, and torsion drop but would like to here what other people have tried. Thanks!

unless your wanting to do a f*** ton of work then leave your f150 out of this grab a f250 or bigger the frame isn't made to handle big time pulling its only a half ton truck.

BUT it can be done with a lot of work. I have pushed my f150 to the limit by pull starting tractors (4020 and 4320) and thats with a 4.6. I dont mean to bring up chevy but my inline 4cyl can pull a 4020 I know my f150 can pull more BUT im a ***** cause its my daily driver lol.

IF you want a pulling truck sadly get a dodge (for the motor only) and then dump the cummins into a truck of your choice. any inline motor (but the 250 or what ever it is inline 6) is a great pulling motor. My mechanic has a f350 reg cab long wheel base service truck with duals and it has a gas inline 6 pulls great.

But then our hay guy has 2 duramax's and they arent as good as a cummins (pulling wise) they are still good motors but not my choice of a pulling truck motor.

I hope this helped you.

O and i know this will **** every 1 off but i personally hate the 6.0 powerstroke but the 7.3 i love

but then there are these toys

im guessing you are going to do this with a 02 5 speed....... haha i would not pull with a newer truck and a 5speed...... you will blow that little 5speed apart...definatly the clutch.... if you are just wanting to mess around with pulling... get you a pre 94 f250 or f350....you can find them cheap ... get the 7.3 non turbo'd diesel... they will pull anyhting you hook to them...they dont make much horsepower but they make a ****ton of torque

the inline idea is great my buddy has a 450hp fummins dynoed at sheids at 6k rpm. im not worried about tranny itll only be 2nd low. i know its a little 4.6 and i basicly have every bolt on attached with long tube headers and some mild port work along with some mild cams and the springs. it'll be what it'll be set up is everyting from what i saw this summer.

Over Labor day I went to a pull and there was a chick that pulled a f150 supercrew. Only got 180ft. It did beat the duramax that twisted the drive line ten feet down the track but I wouldn't call that a win.

So I gather sled pulling isnt actually what I thought of when I read the title.

I was thinking "wtf why cant an f150 pull a damn sled?"
