Probably not going to put the guts inside the factory radio. It's possible, but way more work than what it's worth.
But if anyone wanted to see what the inside looks like here ya go:
Back of the screen...
Alright so it warmed up pretty good today so I took a crack at installing this bad boy.
I used a skill saw to cut the opening bigger. Screw dash's must be a little different than regular f150s because I didn't have to take out the metal bracket in the dash.
Test fit was perfect. Unfortunately the shop vac I used to clean up after cutting peeled of some paint. =(
I didn't really have anything to cut this with so I used a heat gun and worked the plastic to a bigger hole. IMHO this probably turned out better than cutting it would have.
All wired up and installed. =D The radio app picked up 19 stations sitting my driveway. With my old radio I hardly got 3 stations in town. It puts out more power than the stock radio. The sound quality is way better than I ever thought it would be. Might be worth it for me to buy new speakers. It's well worth what I paid for it.
I didn't get around to hooking up the backup camera, although warmer the ground is still covered in snow so I didn't want to be crawling around on the ground getting all nasty before work.

That looks pretty good to me. If it sounds that good maybe I should go that way.
Time for more pictures! This thread is pretty pic heavy....
Maybe the next thing i'll post will be a video?
Boot up takes about 20-30 seconds, but I can live with that.
Has a variety of boot logos you can choose from in the factory menu. I choose this fancy ford emblem. =D
torque pro installed, haven't set anything up other than pairing the adapter. So defualt gauge layout and gauges
.
Will do eventually. Can't vouch for the quality tho, would be recording from my phone.

Navigation works wonders. I used google maps for a test. It came with a gps sensor that you put on the dash and hook up in the back of the unit. Knows exact lat and long of where i'm at, at all times.

That question right there is pointless. I'm not. The radio itself is an android radio. It does everything. No 3g but does have built in wifi.
Which brings me to my next update....
The radio so far is fantastic. Sounds great, and the tuner works great. Skips a few stations here and there but i'm looking for a software update on xda to fix that problem.
I was planning on using my US Cellular Galaxy Grand Prime to tether 4g to this bad boy, but it turns out my 4g is crap. I guess I never really noticed because I'm always on wifi at home and at work.
Side note: The front left speaker made some static noise when I started the truck to warm it up after work. I rebooted the radio once the truck was warm and everything sounded great after that. I'm going to chalk that up to cold weather issues.
Edit: I guess I used all my data..... xD
