Default ANDROID 7" + Back Up Camera installed

Hi,
I am fairly new to the forum. Just got White 02 screw 148k mi.
I have started mods on my truck, and first thing I did was 7" double din GPS unit install. Took me 4 hours to get to it, but completed and very happy with the result. You Tube these days are God send for instruction on doing repairs of any! Attached pics of head unit purchased from ebay for $150.00 including Pyle back up camera.

Welcome.

That head unit looks nice. Where can we find more information about the unit? (specs, where to buy, ect.)

Can you install personalization apps like launchers and icon packs?
That is the main reason I never wanted to install these types of head units because the graphic interface is clunky and isn't clean.

Looking forward to seeing how this guy holds up to heat and cold.

Most of the android head units have the Google Play Store installed allowing you to download apps like you would on an android phone. There are some android head units have special firmware based for head unit functionality, such as special launchers with big icons, ease of switching between apps, and an equalizer within the settings.

Here is the link to the ebya site I have purchased from.

So far, graphic is good and also after the purchase, seller sent me two links where I can download different types of NAV software with instruction.

There are tons of apps you can download and install as it has built in WIFI to use our phone's Hotspot or anywhere with WIFI access.

Only drawback this unit has is it does not have AM, just FM only, but it is okay with me since I don't listen to AM.

Comes with square back up camera but I already had license plate bar type camera that I have installed.

Wirings are marked clearly to use with Metra wiring adaptor I got from Amazon. You just need to ground the BRAKE CTL wire to the chassis.

Cutting out the dash opening due to the OEM head unit not being true double din, I have used drill to drill out pilot hole and used Multi keyhole saw to cut the excess plastic trim out.

Overall, I am happy with the way it came out and saved $$ for install labor!

Speakers are a typical change out because of the difference in ohms that Ford uses and the aftermarket heads. I've replaced mine with a very similar, no CD/DVD slot head. Mine works perfectly and I upgraded my 4.2.2 to 5.0. I first went to Jelly Bean 4.3, and then went to Lollipop. Everything is quite fluid in movement and seems as well balanced as my Nexus tablet. I'm quite happy with the Android head I installed, and have just put the one in my Mustang also, removing a factory Navigaion radio, for the Android. I did lose my factory amp, but I put in a Alpine KTP445U in its place and now the volume is out of sight. A very good upgrade for these heads, in my opinion.

I downloaded the upgrade and installed it via WiFi. I believe it was from source android where I got my link. I did it back in February, so the link isn't right off the top of my head. It took me almost 5 months to finally install it. I'm slow at times. I just did the Mustang also, and I've had that head since January, right after Christmas. That one is still at 4.3. It originally came as 4.2.2 but I upgraded it then. I'm going to go with the upgrade to 5.0.1 or better, after I finish working on the lil red truck. Priorities in the summer, because of our winters being from Oct to whenever, depending on the way the initial winter starts. You get the outside things done now, and play inside in the fall/winter. lol
