Default Alternator question?

Hey guys. I recently was able to pick up some parts off of a 2000 f250 super duty 5.4 v8 that was totaled. Got most of the parts for free or cheap. One thing I got was the alternator. I was wondering if these are more powerful then the alternator that's on my 5.4 in my 150? Is there any difference? Or are they the same? The label is wore off so I can't tell.

Any help would be appreciated.

If there was one thing I wouldn't put on my truck...it would be a used alternator.

Some things are fine used, but an alternator is critical to daily operations.

Take the alternator you got to one of the local parts guys and have them check it. If it's good, they can give you the amp rating on their machine. That will tell you. It is most likely no different in the SD than your Lariat.

One I took off a 250 was 95 amps same my 150.

Didn't scare me to but on used alternator, only once do you not run with a used alternator . Mine was free and that motor going bye bye soon.

Depending on your headlights and batter, your truck will approximately run about 15 min without an alt. Dying and sputtering during that 15min pace. So make sure to get it tested. Very critical piece to your truck.

AMEN! And it will fail when you take your wife's minivan to work so she can take your 6 day old baby to the Doctor on a snowy day. And she won't have to sense to realize things aint right. Damn baby brains.
