well heres the deal. when you do the gotts mod you open the air intake from about 1.5in to 3 in. letting in way more air. but when the air hits the silencer it closes back down to 1.5in which would slow the air flow way down.
Its not too hard to to take the silncer tube out, just take your time with getting the black flexible hosing off and you can just pull the silencer out (dont have to cut anything.) You do need black weatherstriping glue to glue it back on tho.
If you do both of those I would reccomend getting a high performance air filter and with all that it will rival and/or better $300 CAI systems.
I like my Spectre hpR performamce air filter, it has 98-99% filtering and lets in over 1100 cfm and feels like a good quality product so IMO every bit the equal as a k&n, but only costs $26 and has a $10 rebate right now. I did a write up on it here: https://www.f150forum.com/f6/make-ch...sepower-52162/
(dont worry im not a pitch guy for Spectre, and i probably wouldnt buy anything else from Spectre but making an Air Filter isnt rocket science and theres looks and feels and preformes just like a K&N only way cheaper, so I think its a good buy and just lettin ya guys know about it)

There is a thread on here somewhere that tells you how to do it without cutting or gluing.....just a pair of pliers and some patience....I did it that way, no glue, no sanding, just took it out and hooked it back up.....took like 20 minutes.....search on here and you will find the diretions on how to do it without ripping it apart.

well i actually used a needle nose pliers and ended up splitting the silencer somehow so i just kept splitting it till it was in two pieces and pulled it out in two

Either or, I just like to make sure people know they DO NOT have to take it apart. Some elbow grease and patience is all you need to do it without the difficulty of taking it apart.
