Default Which mirrors fit?

Ok, before you guys bash me and tell me to use the search function - let me put it out there .... I have! I've been looking into this since I bought my truck 2 weeks ago and have not been successful. I picked up a '97 F-150 3 door w/ 2WD, automatic. According to my VIN lookup, it's a Styleside. My driver side mirror housing is damaged. You don't see any damage but when you drive, it shakes. It's a power mirror and non-heated. I can't live with it so I would like to replace it with an OEM/stock unit. I've tried mirrors from a 2000 Explorer 4dr and a more recent model Explorer but they do not fit. I'm guessing I need to go older or a completely different model. The ones for the F-150 that I see in my area are waaaay overpriced and I'm looking for an alternative cheaper route. What are the other vehicles and years that will fit my truck? TIA (I've noticed that I can't do much with a '97 - limited rim options, interchangeable parts limitations, etc. - why, Ford, why?)

Is it the XLT series mirror, if so I have to see if It is for my big truck or the Harley. If your talking about the "bubble" style mirror I have one for ya cheap PM me! Gotta see first though its out at my barn

Other than that expeditions and supercrews have the same backing plate while single cabs and ex-cabs have the same... all my knowledge is on the upgraded packages not the flat style (work truck, 6-cylinder) mirrors

6 cylinder,

and 480 is rediculas, I got my replacement with the blinkers in them for my Harley when it got stolen for 250 apiece and 45 apiece for the caps.

I'd just get some street scenes for 100
