Default Air intake modifications?

So I watched this video, and wanted some opinions on it. I was not looking to do a cold air intake system, but just came across this video and figured if people think its not a bad idea, then I might as well make a cold air intake lol. Anyway, here is the video, sorry if I am not allowed to post links, just let me know and I will take it down, or a mod or admin can take it down.

Yea instead of sucking in cold air from the fender lets suck in hot air from the engine bay and call it a cold air intake.

Doesn't make sense to me. Don't waste your time or chop up your stock airbox. It works as designed.

It's not really a bad idea for a CAI so much as the potential for water intrusion is increased more than you'd like.

If you don't go through high water then it may not matter.

Even the K&N cai has a box from the bottom up.

Before some noob tries to say, "it takes in hot engine air" that's bogus logic. The air circulates to fast from ambient outside Temps to the intake.

The fender just gives one extra layer of protection without adding much restriction.

Gotts mod and a quality filter is all you need but it's certainly not the only option.

Do what you want to your trucks, just don't rice them out.

If he still believe it affects air intake temps and hp of a naturally aspirated engine then, yes.

I'll stick a thermometer under the hood this wknd when I'm driving around. I'll then put it in the fender.

We will see which is cooler.

I was merely mocking the "cold air" reference to engine bay temps vs fender temps.
