Question acceleration flat spot

2000 F150 4.2 has a flat spot in acceleration unless you keep the rpms up

What?? You need to explain your situation better than that.
Is it losing power at certain times? Is that what your trying to say

The acceleration is sluggish if I don't keep the rpms up before I upshift my 5 speed manual transmission. I am not trying to lug the engine just shift before the rpms are higher than I think they should have to be to have smooth acceleration

Hello Mainer, I may be crazy but I think I have noticed the same thing on both my motorcycle and scooter recently. It takes longer to come up to speed. I wonder if it's bad gas and/or weather conditions.

At what rpm are you up shifting? You probably dont have a tach to know but what would be your guess by sound? If you upshift too soon your engine will bog down, that's normal

My 4.6 has that issue when im going 20 or 30 and push down the pedal it stays at the same rpm. Like after a few seconds then it starts to increase in rpm after hitting 40 46 when it shifts

No if i floor it it will shift down and move. I think my fuel pump is weak cause after the truck sitting I gotta move the key like twice from off to on then fully turn it for it to turn on
