So, Finally got my AC going again. Included changing out the condensor (had a leak) and the accumulator, and also the orifice tube.
I've recharged a few other vehicles (about 4), and everything went great. I finally got my truck able to hold a vacuum, and also able to take the freon and get it old.
Heres my problem: The ac blows cold out of the defrost, only when it is on "max AC." However, when I want it to blow out of the front vents I hit "VENT" on the ac controller thing, and it suddenly looses its cool. It's not hot, its kind of just the ambient temperature.
Can anybody help me out with this?
I have noticed while I was charging, that when I switched it from "MAX AC" to "VENT" the compressor would stop and the pressures would drop.
I have "VENT" set at the same lowest degree possible, just as the "MAX AC" setting.
Does your **** have Max AC, AC, Panel then off? See pic.
If so the only ones that cool are the Max AC, and AC. Mine does not have "Vent". But as far as I know in any car Vent is just fresh air and the compressor turns off.
EATC module has a Self Test, Press OFF and Floor button simultaneously then press Automatic button within 2 seconds to display the DTC.
I did this. It went through the cycle, but don't think it came up with anything. At the end if the cycle, it just light up every light possible until I pushed a different button.
You need a scantool to read the DTC. EATC is complicated to repair because it has cabin temp sensor, ambient temp sensor & sunload sensor. Vehicle speed & coolant temp is also used to operate EATC.
Oh ok. Well I've got a decent one. I just assumed a number would come on the dash. So, what do I do? Hook up scan tool...then do the off/floor with the ac and then read codes on scan tool? Didn't have a check engine light
