Default ABS/Hub Question

Easy question: if a front hub/bearing assembly is going bad, can it cause the ABS to act weird or even shut down?

Details: In another thread I thought I diagnosed a bad cv shaft. After reading/watching a bunch I'm now thinking it might be the hub/bearing assembly instead.

I have some squealing and sporadic grinding from somewhere up front. The ABS was also acting very strange: engaging on flat, smooth, dry pavement at very low speeds when braking. Now the ABS light on the dash is always on and the ABS isn't engaging anymore at low speed.

Since the sensor is in the hub, am I on the right track in thinking the hub is bad? Heading out to pick up parts in a few hours, so I'm hoping to get some good advice on Sunday morning....LOL.

Makes sense to me. However, it has Been my experience that a CV shaft is most noticable in a turn.

Yeah, it was the hub assembly. Straightforward repair. About 2 hrs. All symptoms resolved.

Thanks for sharing. You guessed right. Failing hub can trigger ABS issues. Something to learn always.

Yes it does. And makes the ABS bonkers.

New bearing hub assembly in, no more noise or brake issues, just quiet again.
