Default About to pull motor out.

I have an 01 two wheel drive with the 5 speed and the 4.2. Where is the best place to pick it and put the hoist? Thanks for any input.

I have a knock in my rod bearings. Anyone done this project and has any advice please let me know. It has 167k on the clock and might as well do it right. What else needs attention. Thanks.

I think that the engine has the hoisting mounts on it already. I have an 03 4.2 and if I'm looking at it right it looks to be the two black plate things next to the spark plugs and headers. Not sure if that is the hoisting point or not though. If you do decide to use those as the hoist points then I recommend running a couple of straps underneath it because those two plates don't look to sturdy, I can move it with my hand so I'm questioning that.

I just used valve cover bolts on opposite corners and a chain on mine. That way you can adjust which link you use to get the angle you want. That was on a 4.6 but I'm sure you can do the same thing. Just find any two bolts that look like the weight will be balanced and sturdy and snug the chain down under them. Something I use a washer depending on the bolts.

I put a bolt through a chain link into the back of the head on the rear, and you can use a bolt from the alternator or take the whole assembly off and use a bolt into the front of the block. I have pictures of when I did mine if you want to see. Just did it recently.
